Msn

I've been using Msn for quite some time now. Was using ICQ before my comp broke down and reformatted. Since then started using Msn, but never had the same memories as i had in the ICQ era. N finally there's something that will probably be in my mind for sometime that happened yest nite.

Talked to an ex clsmate of mine using Msn. A simple apology, some talk about the past student life and some explaination. Problem (in fact there probably had never been a problem on my part in the first place, I'm a VERY forgetful person) solved.

Maybe we had never been frens, maybe we'll still won't be frens. But perhaps the next time we see each other U'll walk over and say hi?

Amazing singing

I noe i must be getting damn bored to write this... But i'm really getting damn bored... so anyway here goes...

Was watching the Econ sponsored show juz now...Before that knew that Toro was going to perform in e show... Ok, just in case any1 dunno, Toro was frm this pop group known as Energy before he broke up with e group. And something to be noted is that he was not 1 of the main singers in e group. So back to his performance... apparently he "sang" a song which is e theme song for a drama which was shown in Singapore a couple of mths back "ren wo ao you". N the song was supposed to be a duet betw him n yan xing shu (i already discounted Toro's 2 kakhis who with him form typhoon n is supposedly also involved in e singing of the song). N so we have an idiot on stage pretending to mouth a song that is supposedly sang by 2 guys. It was like so obvious he couldn't have sang all that live as it was clearly 2 different voices.

I understand that a lot of pop idols nowadays also mouth on stage. Some of e very famous ones. N lets admit that this is getting to be a trend. Audience r not stupid. We can accept it when its a dance no or when the artistes r juz plain "voiceless" frm all their involvement frm all e singing n hosting. Juz give me a acceptable reason. But it definitely does not make sense to get a singer attempt to mouth 2 persons' voice on stage. Its plain rediculous. It would have been much betta to arrange him singing any solo, even if he had to mouth it. It would still be much betta.

Made me think of SHE... 1 out 2 yr back Ella was out injured for a few mths... N e other 2 member still had to promote their album den coz it was juz released when Ella suffered her injury. During that period of time i've seen some performance by e 2 of them singing their newest songs. N no doubt its was by only e 2 of them. They took e effort to sing Ella's part. Whether the performances were frm a pre recorded track or sang live, i think nobody could complain anything. N thats wat i think audiences want. Y do any1 wan to see a "live" performance when e singing sounds exactly like e CD?

Ok... now i can even write for entertainment news pages... gd...

Liverpool

Liverpool won e champions league. Incredible. Every1 is talking like they r 5th in EPL, like how its total pts is actually nearer to relegation than e champs, like how lousy their players r compared to milan. But still they won. So wat does it prove?

1. That e ball is round. Since young its such a common phrase to hear to motivate players (or juz to deceive players to they wont feel so bad at going against a stronger team that they have no way of winning). So we always can expect surprises n upsets in sports like soccer, basketball, tennis n such. But not in sports such as rugby, golf or badminton, coz e ball (or e shuttlecock in badminton) is not really round.
2. The bookies must have been very very sincere in praying to various gods not to have milan winning. Given that milan had been e favourites, it must have had many pundits betting on them. Its always good for e bookies when there's an upset. Remember e France vs senegal match last world cup?
3. N since we r on e topic of gods, they muz have been very close to the liverpool players n heeded their prayers. I mean... how could u ignore so many pple singing " you'll never walk alone"? They can't just leave all of them on e lurch ritez?
4. U don't neccessarily need the best players in order to beat a superior team. Yeah... Singapore for e nxt world cup!!!
5. This is gonna be e last but the most impt point. Becoz i finally learnt something from a soccer game that can be applied to volleyball. E Liverpool Gk performed e "jellyfish move", by waving his arms around and wobbling his legs as e penalty takers approached, duriing e penalty shootout n saved 2 shots, with 1 other opponent player blasting his shot. So it proves that physicological warfare is vital to winning games. N frm now on i'll force my players to wobble their legs n wave their hands all ard when e opponent players serve or preparing for a spike.

Pride vs back

My back pain came back to me again today. Felt it at its full force during today's training, juz when i tried to wrap some balls for e boys. Ouch!!! Did a little fatigue this morning, help alfred carry some beds n cupboards. Wasn't very heavy what... but it still muz have exerted some strain on my back. After training i was still feeling e strain, even when i was sitting down or standing up. That's how bad it becomes on an off day.
Started having e back pain during my jc days. I cld only bear wif e pain, put some deep heat on before matches n juz carry on. How can u expect me to tell any1 something like "hey can i get a rest? my back's hurting". No way i'm gonna do that. A half fit me is definitely gonna be more useful than a totally unfit me, whether its during trainings or matches.
Went into NS n surprisingly my back never gave me any prob wif carrying e fieldpack. But its always a torture doing leg raise, crunches, tug jumps or standing broad jumps. My back will hurt like no one's business. Told 1 of my troopers i cld always try for a status or even downgrade for my back probs... But what does that make me? Nothing.
U can say that i'm stupid. U can say that i'm stubborn. But i'll tell u i have pride.

Difference betw a $4 n $8 haircut

Had a haircut out of camp for like e 1st time in a yr plus. Been having my haircuts in camp mostly by an old barber who seems quite pitiful lorz... Below r some differences i found out...

1. Most go for e $4 haircut either becoz they have hair too long and r caught or wants to save money (like me!!!) but pple go for e $8 haircut becoz their hair needs a trim.
2. U dont really have much of a choice of barbers for e $4 haircut but if u r willing to pay $8 or more... u can try looking for e most chio hairdresser ard...
3. U can tell the $4 hairdresser what style u wan but most likely it wont turn out to be wat u wan. U can tell e $8 hairdresser what style u wan n most likely it will turn out to be what u wan.
4. A $4 haircut take slightly less time but abit more pain, while a $8 haircut takes abit more time but lesser pain.
5. U can count e no of hairdressing tools a $4 barber use wif 1 hand but u wont be able to do that with a $8 hairdresser unless u use ur other hand plus maybe 1 or 2 feet?
6. Try wearing some1 else's uniform wif a different rank n ur $4 haircut will change price wif rank. Try wearing ur kid brother's clothes n u might get a discount on ur $8 haircut.

Bdae cele

Celebrated my bdae wif some of my pri sch frens yest nite. Pri sch frens lehz... how many of u still keep in touch wif ur pri sch frens? haha...

Dinner n ktv... it was a most enjoyable experience... i was still thinking of how boring my 21st bdae had been... but at least there's something to look back to...

A big thankz to all those who showed up... special thankz to sq for organising... cw for getting e cake n forcing me to drink wif him... diana for bringing her cam n taking photos (actually i dont like taking photos lorz...)... n for elizabeth for smacking e slice of cake in my face... n so on n on...

Fav teacher

Saw e news of the chi model teacher being revealed... suddenly made me rem 1 teacher who made an impact in my life which i probably wont forget...

He was my chi teacher for sec 1 n 2... admittedly i was never a gd student... much less a gd chi student... since young i have never had e habit of learning my chi spelling (pls dont ask how i got pass my exams)... so actually my chi was quite bad... den always hand up assignments late... never study for tests (coz of all e fill in e blanks of chi words which as mentioned earlier i didnt bother to study)... worse still i always sleep during his lessons. But he never even wake me up even for once... he knew i was always training hard for vball... n i wasn't adapting well to spending 2 hrs on e bus to n fro sch n e workload of sec sch. There was even once he got a clsmate to pass me a bottle of chicken essence... n that was rite after i slept for his whole lesson... chicken essence lehz... my parents also never buy for me before... n he also allowed me to skip some cls extra events... like visits n such... so that i wont miss vball training... where to find such teacher? den 1 more pt... he will always check wif us wat kind of homework or test we having... n arrange his homework deadline n test accordingly... so we'll have adequate time to prepare for all subjects...

Though i didnt really do well for my sec 1 n 2 chi... which was after like quite a no. of extra lessons he sat down wif me n a couple of clsmates after sch to revise our work... who can i blame ritez? myself lahz... but wat i noe is that he did cultivate my liking for chi at that time... n i actually chose c lit to study for o's... which turned out to be quite a sorry choice i made in e end... but i never regretted this decision... seriously... coz he's e one who influenced me...

Wasn't taught by him during sec 3... but whenever i saw him ard in sch he wld always talk to me... like he always used to... den he took my cls for sec 4 c lit... n when during e sec 3 hols when he saw me during 1 of my vball trainings... vball court was beside canteen... he gave me a motivation talk to perk me up for my c lit... i got a f9 for sec 3 c lit lorz... n he never did gave up on me during e whole of sec 4... when i was still not getting decent grades...

I got a a2 for my prelims... which i knew he delibrately marked lag abit so i can make it to hc... for o's i got b3... i apologised to him... but he wasnt at all angry nor disappointed at me or my cls... though i heard he was assigned only lower sec cls after my cls's dismal results for c lit...

Even after i went to hc... i always saw him in canteen when i was back helping out wif trainings... n he was always offering to treat me to coffee n asking me how i was coping wif jc work n all that...

Awhile later i heard he contracted cancer, so there was once i specially went back to find him after he's discharged frm hospital... n i cld see how hagged he looked... but he still was concerned abt my studies n asked abt e rest of my batch... n was still swarmed by students he was teaching... Respect was e only word i had for him...

Abt 1 yr back i received a sms frm a ex-clsmate telling me that e teacher passed away... i wanted to go for his funeral n i was able to go despite still being in ns...but in e end i didnt... i noe he wont wan to see his student cry in front of him...

To him: I'm sorry for not doing as well as ur expectations of me. N i'm eternally grateful for u instilling e love for e language n always there concerned not only for my studies but catering to my whole lot of personal probs as well. I will never forget u n i'm sure all ur other students wont too. Thank u...

To every1 reading this: I noe this will sound cliche... but take e chance u've got to show ur appreciation to any 1 who made a postive impact on ur life... juz a simple sms will do... dont wait till its too late...

Debut

Dunno wat to put for e 1st post... So lets juz look at the story of how a 158cm guy (at 21yrs old) join vball frm pri sch to jc...

Pri sch: He 1st met vball during pri 2... u noe pri sch guys always eat very fast during recess n juz run out to play... den there r times when he will see e vball team having training... so along wif his clsmates they will borrow a ball frm e coach n start playing among themselves at the field beside. The coach will always come n try to correct them as they played among themselves whenever he got the chance. So after more n more of such recess break playing vball, he got to noe more abt the sport, though can't really say that he loved the sport. So when the time comes for him to choose an eca during pri 3, he took on vball... n thats e start...

Sec sch: He 1st saw the vball team training when he was buying textbks at the sch bk shop. It was still the hols. N he only saw e coach with like... hmm... 4 players? He didnt really get a gd look at how they play, coz he didnt really feel like wanting to join vball in sec sch esp after some incident that happened during pri 6. N he told himself this " hey u're in a gd sch, muz study hard or else u might not be able to cope k? Go join some cca like library..." Den came this day all e students were seated in a lecture theatre wif an hod talking abt e sch policy in allocating cca, n he happened to mention this special case who is wanted by track n field but will be going to volleyball as he's gd in it. The 1st thing that came to him was " hey where's this guy frm?" He got national 4th in pri 6, so any gd players he shld have played or seen them before. But fate has it that this guy is seated rite across the other end of the lect theatre. So even though e hod did ask e guy to stand up, he cld not see who the guy was. His curiosity got the betta of him n he decided to go for e vball trial that very day to see who e guy was, n e snrs told him to come back for another "trial session" the nxt day if he wanted to noe where e guy was frm. So he went down again the nxt day, n discovered it was a proper training. The captain den, brought him to gather with e rest of e vball players in front of the coach n told e coach something like this " coach, this guys is sec 1 n he played vball in pri sch before. He'll be joining the team." N that became his very 1st training session in sec sch...

Jc: Basically he didnt have a choice. He went for the jc to join his snrs to play vball together once more. He already could not pull himself out of it... : P
